Hi all,
I would like to announce that http://Yiianswers.com has answers notification subscriptions both for question authors and commenters.
Hope you guys enjoy
Cheers
I had a look around and it looks like a good idea, seems to be taking off quite well. keep it up.
thanks. hope it is used more often in a future so we have organized questions and answers and it is easier to find a solution to our challenges
thank you, great job!
Guys!
I am truly sorry, but a moron self-named hacker ShenzSandz has destroyed Yiianswers.com. I am working hard to get all the data back, I am truly sorry guys for all this mess.
I just do not understand something, I spend my own money, I do not even include advertisements, I did that to give back something to a community that helped me to be where I am now… WHY there are people that do these things?
I apologize for the bad security of my hosting provider wordpress. I try to get things back online as soon as possible.
Sorry again
Great!!
thanks, good job!
Does it have only facebook authentication method? I couldn’t find a way to register without facebook account.
Thank you! great job
Hi,
Thanks for the yiianswers site’s. Am still (too) new with Yii, after years of cakephp and spring framework…
No time…
Guys… something really bad has happened… the hosting providers have suspended my account with yiianswers.com… I am trying to find out why but this is the information they put on their home page:
Unlimited Web space
Unlimited Traffic
Unlimited Email Accounts
Unlimited SQL Databases
Unlimited FTP Accounts
I am so sorry… truly sorry this has happened, will keep you updated with all that happened.
I would like to show you the answer given by the people at the www.ZYMA.com hosting provider:
Antonio Ramirez Cobos 13 Feb 17:52
What has happened to yiianswers.com? Why my account has been suspended?
Zyma Support 13 Feb 18:15
Hi Antonio,
Our servers detected that your account was consuming high CPU and was deemed unsuitable for a shred hosting environment. We therefore kindly request that you move this website to another hosting provider.

Then, could you please allow me to download my database contents and site?
IMHO I think you shouldn’t publish UNLIMITED to your hosting services as this site is about consuming 1/3 of my personal blog (hosted in godaddy) and I do not have problems at all.
I believe that you should have told me before cancelling the account, so I could have the option to inform all the people using the site and have time to move before you just cancel it…
Well guys, I am open for suggestions. Yiianswers.com was actually a 1/3 of the use that I make for my own personal blog (in visits and use)… Unfortunatelly, I failed choosing the provider.
Please, accept my apologies
"Easy to create the same in Yii".Are you saying that is easy for one person to create a Yii CMS backend system like WordPress which is the result of 8 (or so) years of development of hundrends of developers?Have you seen the Media Management in WordPress? All the configuration details for posts and comments? And my question is,have you managed to create a CMS in Yii that is even close to WordPress? It would be interesting to see…
If you’re having issues with your hosting I can set you up an account on one of my dedicated cPanel boxes for free (provided the site remains not for profit )
I doubt the site would use enough CPU or memory to cause an issue and, if it does we can simply correct it Let me know if you’re interested.
But topic is still pinned… what’s up with that site, is it coming back?
Hi guys, while I was reading about the issues of hosting the Yiianswers.com site, I was wondering why we’re not using the original StackExchange framework and servers:
http://area51.stackexchange.com/faq
There we can propose our own Yii based Q&A site, and they take care of the hosting and the software (which is miles ahead of any open source Q&A site).
Any thoughts on this?
Soo, I already went ahead and made a proposal on the Area51 stackexchange website for a Yii framework Q&A site.
You can find it here: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/39178/yii-framework?referrer=8n_sanRfV2AbnjJABdDdJQ2
Now the proposal is in "Definition" and we will need 60 followers and 40 questions to get it to a further stage. Zend Framework for instance is also on there (in commit phase), as are Django and Joomla (still in define phase).
I hope I’m not going out of my way for proposing this, but I’m a major fan of the other Q&A sites and I loved the idea of having one for Yii as well. This seems to me like a very foolproof way of doing it (no issues with servers and they have hands down the best Q&A software on the market that is still continually improving).
I’m pretty sure we can link it afterwards to the Yiianswers.com domain name as well.
Oh, and it’s completely free.
