@samdark, four months after your last answer here, can you provide some update on Yii 3 release, some plans, maybe some obstacles etc.? Thank you.

Finally started migrating my site from Yii1 to Yii2 a few days ago. Is yii3 a total rewrite? should i wait?

Really don’t wanna move to laravel.

Yes, it is a total rewrite. See docs/upgrade-from-v2.md at master · yiisoft/docs · GitHub

Thanks! will check it out

when will it be released, i’ve been waiting for long :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Waiting for Yii3. I love Yii framework. Don’t want to go in Laravel for now.

Only 49 of 120 packages are completed. It means it will take one more year to complete ?

Not a core developer, but Yes, if the manpower and contribution remain low, then what is the choice?
If you can contribute then that is a sure way of speeding things up!

Maybe but we hope to speed up releases after factory/DI are done. These are really close and holding many already prepared releases.

What particular bit of DI is causing the holdup. Design, or some final polishing required?

Thanks for the info.
I was wondering if this Yii3 Trello Page is still used or up to date?

Yes. It’s used. We’re updating it from time to time.

Hello,

Will there also be available “advanced template”? I really loved the structure of YIi2 dividing into frontend/backend/common etc. 3 totally different enviroments.

No. There’s no plan to provide it but the structure itself is possible to achieve.

For me, biggest blocker is that I cannot just unzip in any directory on the web server and start the project. Why it’s linked with virtual host. It’s too complicated. We have 10+ project in directories on single domain or vhost.

I may never move to yii3 due to this problem.

Thanks

Problem ?

Does this help you?

I thought we were talking about Yii3 and not yii2 ? Right ?
