It’s amazing what you can do with an arduino.
I play with my arduinos for fun, but they definitely have the power to help create real life inventions, but for the most part, they are typically used for rapid prototyping and hobbyists.

I just got mine and it’s pretty cool! So far I have just done the blinking led and fading led, the Arduino equivalent to ‘Hello World’.
Years ago, I was tasked with programming a plc for some assembly line machinery. Everything is programmed in ladder logic! The Arduino and it’s ‘C’ style programming is so much easier. I have no doubt that it could be used effectively in manufacturing automation. I guess the real difference is one of serviceability. The Arduino is quite fragile compared to a dedicated plc.
