I’m a developer, not a themer, but I like to work with nice things, even when I know it will be replaced later with a “real” theme

yes, I have fairly decent traffic on it without advertising it at all (it’s been up since April)

Remember good old Freshy2 ?

It’s GPL, which I can’t change.

I’ll clean it up a bit and put it up there if you want it.

It currently requires a custom menu widget (Freshy2Menu), and I need to create a portlet style for it as well.

how can I convert a wordpress or Joomla theme to Yii?

Is there a tool that does it for you?

I have heard of a tool called artisteer, but don’t have

any idea if it’s any good or if you could create yii themes with it.

I converted a WordPress theme by myself (StarCraft) in about 1.5 hrs http://yiithemes.mehesz.net/theme/5/wp-starcraft and I’m not a front-end developer.

to use/crate themes under Yii is very easy, if you know what you are doing.
