I think a big part of a pull for Laravel is its word usage. Eloquent does make you want to look more and then by the time you use it enough you can’t be bothered to switch.
However good laravel might be it just doesn’t sound “enterprise” like zend or symfony.
What is Yii’s market?
Who do you want as users?
Does the top page (landing page) reflect your customers tastes?
Laravel, zend and symfony pulls you in. Zend is well zend and symfony scares you away with its forums.
One of Yii’s biggest assists is its forum.

What I like the most about Yii is it’s “as close too as possible” to being opt-in. I never have to use that particular component, I can do it my way, it’s just a thing in the toolbox.
Personally I’ve never used the assets folder thing or any build-in javascript, because it didn’t make sense to me, but it’s not a problem since I can just write plain HTML.
Light, solid, intuitive for a programmer - programming as it should be.

When i use it,
Last year I explored Yii and I loved it. I love my Subaru but I am still a driver armature. I love Yii and I am still developer armature. When I go out and buy something, I look for something that touches me. I think we need to be emotional here (read HICKS: Subaru ‘love’ isn’t rational, Accessed on 14/06/2013) and not technical. My suggestion:
Yii: framework in confidence (borrowed from Subaru slogan "motion in confidence")
Yii: a framework developed by passion for the love of PHP coding (borrowed from Subaru slogan "built by passion for the love of driving")
Yii: performance with passion (performance means: is secure, fast, reliable, professional, etc)
Yii: it does what I want (Yes It Is because it does what I want)
I have read all the above comments but we still need to think think of something out of the box. Who cares whether its fast, secure and better than another frameworks. What we want is, does it touch my emotions, can I relate it to me, what is may experience to it. I don’t know much about marketing but I do know that advertiser play around with our emotions.
Sorry developers, it has to be based on Subaru because last week I drove my legacy on Kalahari soft sand, and I was scared where I shouldn’t have been and it managed to go through places where the 4x4s couldn’t; that is why I love it and that is why I believe in Yii even when I am still an armature.

I love the statement but I want to add that one of things I was looking at when deciding to choose framework is one that I can work with all sizes of Project. So My 2 0.5$ will be making it sound like
