Using single form to insert values into two tables

I 've 2 tables called, user & lawyer.I used CRUD generator for lawyer model class. And in the form i collect values for name, email, address, phone, username & password.username & password values to be stored in user table & all the other values to the lawyer table.

I followed the wiki link to do this.

but i am getting the error "Object of class User could not be converted to string"

I have,User.php,Lawyer.php in protected/models dir.

and lawyer folder (when used gii CRUD generator)in protected/models & the LawyerController.php file.

please can anybody help me?

When you get that error you get even the line number where that error is fired… so analyze a bit that code and if you cannot figure it out… post it here so we can see what can be the problem…

Thanks for the quick reply, :)

Since I am new to yii, couldn’t figure out the error.so I’ll paste my code here ,&also will attach the error page, i got.

PHP Error.htm

In the future… please post only the relevant code… for example your problem here is with the actionCreate but you posted the whole controller class… that is not needed and most of the time will only yeld to no help from users as looking a big portion of code to find where is your problem is time consuming…

In your case the problem is in the view file on the call to errorSummary… check it’s documentation - http://www.yiiframework.com/doc/api/1.1/CActiveForm#errorSummary-detail

If you want to send it two models you need to send them as an array… you instead did send the second mode as a second parameter that would be the header… and that’s why you get this error…

Thanks a lot for the reply,In future i’ll do as you said. :)

Now it works, :D

Following suggestion was given by, Robert(bn77).Thanks so much .I got it corrected now as you said. :)

change #10 in _form.php from <?php echo $form->errorSummary($model,$model2); ?> to <?php echo $form->errorSummary(array ($model,$model2)); ?>

Best regards

Robert

this can also help update two model with one view
