Using CDetailView to show another models view

Hello All. I have the database

==== Group ====

id

name

==== Member ====

id

group_id

firstname

lastname

Here I have done multimodel where I can save and update both models from Group Controller.Now My problem is when I am doing save then the page is redirected to the id of the Group page but at that save only the first models attribute is displaying the second models attributes are not displaying.

Here is the code for controllers code for Group

Here is View file

<?php

$this->breadcrumbs=array(

  'Groups'=>array('index'),

  $model->name,

);

$this->menu=array(

  array('label'=>'List Group', 'url'=>array('index')),

  array('label'=>'Create Group', 'url'=>array('create')),

  array('label'=>'Update Group', 'url'=>array('update', 'id'=>$model->id)),

  array('label'=>'Delete Group', 'url'=>'#', 'linkOptions'=>array('submit'=>array('delete','id'=>$model->id),'confirm'=>'Are you sure you want to delete this item?')),

  array('label'=>'Manage Group', 'url'=>array('admin')),

);

?>

<h1>View Group #<?php echo $model->id; ?></h1>

<?php $this->widget('zii.widgets.CDetailView', array(

  'data'=>$model,

  'attributes'=>array(

    'id',

    'name',

    ),

  )

); ?>

I think in CDetailView have to configure the attributes for members

Have the same problem did you find a solution?

You have to define relation in your Model.

‘member’ => array(self::HAS_MANY, ‘Member’, ‘id’),

and then in view

<?php $this->widget(‘zii.widgets.CDetailView’, array(

‘data’=>$model,

‘attributes’=>array(

'id',

'name',

array('name'=&gt;'Member','value'=&gt;&#036;model-&gt;member-&gt;firstname),

array('name'=&gt;'Member','value'=&gt;&#036;model-&gt;member-&gt;lastname),

),

)

); ?>

If you want to display more users then use loop, widget i guess will not wok

Hi,

I think Dhaval is not correct, HAS_MANY will make the member to become an array, you cannot access the array directly, unless you use an index where it will limit you to access only to a specified member. In addition, we should handle the exception as well when a group is crated without a member yet.

In the controller, just use default actionView like below:

...

/**

   * Displays a particular model.

   * @param integer $id the ID of the model to be displayed

   */

  public function actionView($id)

  {

    $this->render('view',array(

      'model'=>$this->loadModel($id),

    ));

 }

...

Don’t forget, in your model add the relation:

...

'members' => array(self::HAS_MANY, 'Member', 'id'),

...

Then, in your view

...

<?php

$this->breadcrumbs=array(

  'Groups'=>array('index'),

  $model->name,

);

$this->menu=array(

  array('label'=>'List Group', 'url'=>array('index')),

  array('label'=>'Create Group', 'url'=>array('create')),

  array('label'=>'Update Group', 'url'=>array('update', 'id'=>$model->id)),

  array('label'=>'Delete Group', 'url'=>'#', 'linkOptions'=>array('submit'=>array('delete','id'=>$model->id),'confirm'=>'Are you sure you want to delete this item?')),

  array('label'=>'Manage Group', 'url'=>array('admin')),

);

?>

<h1>View Group #<?php echo $model->id; ?></h1>

<?php $this->widget('zii.widgets.CDetailView', array(

  'data'=>$model,

  'attributes'=>array(

    'id',

    'name',

    ),

  )

); ?>

<h2>Members:</h2>

<?php

foreach($model->members AS $member) {

    $this->widget('zii.widgets.CDetailView', array(

        'data'=>$member,

        'attributes'=>array(

            'lastname',

            'firstname',

        ),

    )

);

}

?>

...

Do you mean something like that? CDetailView is used for single entity, if you want to control more than one entity, it is better to use CListView or CGridView. What I usually do in Group’s view is use CDetailView to display the Group’s properties and used CGridView to display members.
