SOLUTION to repeated questions here

Hello and Yiihaw!! to everyone here,

Allow me to submit my humble suggestion:

It seems that in regards to "installation and setup" the same questions keep popping up many times over.

I suggest that a COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS be created and populated as questions repeat themselves in this section of the forum.

Doing this:

(1) will reduce newbbie discouragement, make learning easier, and

(2) free the forum section for more advance questions,

and

(3) encourage more participation from the pros – since they often stay away due to seeing the same questions over and over.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND HUMAN NATURE

The average person, in the excitement to duplicate the BLOG DEMO tutorial, is not going to get sidetracked by difficult and tiring research into reading the guide (which does not explain anything) or seek to read past forum posts — that usually will happen AFTER a successful duplication of the Blog Demo.

As mentioned before, the guide leaves MANY important details out. Very frustrating.

I have not been able to duplicate the BLOG TUTORIAL yet – however, this past weekend I was able to successfully duplicate the demo tutorial for CI, FUSE, Zoop, and XATADATA.

XATADATA has the BEST guide I have ever read (it is so detailed that you could leave your brains at home)  – it includes ALL details, and due to such they do not even need to show examples. CodeIgniter leaves out details too, but provides so many examples, that anyone can be a pro in a weekend.

NOW…

Nobody disputes that fact that Yii IS THE BETTER CHOICE – i have done my homework and know for a fact that Yii is much better in every sense.

But … it has given me more gray hairs than my ex

TRUST ME … if effort is not presently directed at updating video and guide, it will do no good to perfect it since there will be no one there to use it - users will migrate and fall in love with the competitors

THEREFORE…

lets make learning it a priority and

Perhaps a section with a regularly updated "Questions & Answers" may make the learning curve a little less scarier.

Well … go to go now, I just downloaded ver 1.0.7

let me see how that taste

YiiHaw!!

Thank you for your suggestions. Creating good documentation is a long term process. We plan to enrich the features of Yii Cookbook so that it can become a major source of help for Yii. At the same time, feel free to let us know things that you wish the guide should give more details about.
