I’m the author of the PHPWatermark class and I’ve created a component for Yii 1.1.x.
You can download/clone the component from:

(I registered just few minutes ago, so I can’t post it in the /extension repo here. I will do it later)

The PHPWatermark class itself was written about 2 years ago. I found it accidently 2 days ago and I posted it on Github. It can be changed and upgraded, which will come from time to time.
Please feel free to comment, criticize, post issues, etc. about the Component and PHPWatermark.
PS I’ll create a Yii 2.0.x component later today and post it here also.
