Looking for Yii2 Hands-on Tutorial

Yii 2.0 Tips, Snippets and Tutorials

Hi all.

I’m looking for Yii2 hands-on tutorial books/websites but all I find are for older version of Yii 1 or 1.1. I have years of experiences with PHP but no experience with any kinds of framework. I came to Yii to learn about MVC and to see how much development time would be saved by using this framework. I have a new project coming up real soon and would like to use Yii.

Would you recommend me to read those books for Yii1 (or 1.1) and jump onto Yii2? I’m just wondering if there are significant differences between 1.1 and 2, and reading Yii1.1 book would not make sense if I’ll be using Yii2.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Yii 2.0 is still in beta there is not lot of tutorials available at the moment but there is Yii official guide and I believe there some youtube videos okay here

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t know yii2 was just a beta release. From the download page, it was the first to find so I guessed yii2 was was GA. Thanks for clarification and I understand now why there are not many tutorials/books on yii2 yet.

Yii2 is not in Beta anymore since a few months and 2.0.1 is out on 7.12.2014:
