How To Pass Data To Themes View File From Controller

Hi all,

I have a simple requirement. but confused how to do it…

I need to get the data from one table to my themes view…which is themes/classic/views/site/index.php page

how can i get the data on to this page. this is site index page. but i need to get a field(text data) from items table. on this page. where can i write controller and how this controller should be??

sorry all. it was simple… I was confused how to do it…got it now…

I wrote in my siteController and able to get them in view now :)
