How Do You Pronounce Gii?

Obviously this is not of vital importance when it comes to developing applications with the wonderful Yii framework, but since the "G" in Gii presumably comes from "generate", then should it be pronounced with a soft g, as in "generate" (or just like the letter g), or a hard g, as in "ghee"?

Sometimes I read aloud to reinforce retention and comprehension. It really distracts me not being able to differentiate yii vs gii pronunciation when they both appear in the text.
