Backward Compatibility Of Yii 2.0

I am a new user in this forum. I am not sure if I post my comment in the right place.

My company is trying to decide whether we should use Yii to rebuild our application. One thing we are concerned about is the fact that Yii 2.0 is going to release in ~6 months. We can’t wait that long to start the project.

If we build our projects in previous version of Yii, is it going to be compatible with Yii 2.0? Do we need to redo our project? What happens to Yii 1.1x? are you going to continue supporting it?

http://www.yiiframework.com/download will tell you that 1.1 will be supported until at least December 31st, 2015, and further if needed. It also says that 2.0 will not be compatible with 1.1. Apart from that I highly doubt 2.0 will be released in 6 months, it’s not even alpha yet. Did you read that somewhere or are you just speculating?

I say go for 1.1, it’s pretty awesome already!
